It's been nearly two weeks since this fair, but I wanted to share a few pictures from our stall. It is exhaustaing to do markets and I so much appreciate that I do not have to do it alone anymore. Next week me and the other KimaraCrafts girls have the last joint event this year, a Christmas fair (Naisten joulumessut, Wanha satama, Helsinki 5-9.12), I very much look forward to it!
All set and ready for the first day at the fair!
During the last week I have been making more of these unique fairy-angels. They are all made from old faded and stained embroidered table-cloths, I have to take a family portrait of them all, before they all move away from home!
Last day of the fair, looking happy, but tired...
Now I am going to lit some candles, we have a terrible snowstorm blowing outside, brr!
This weekend me and my friends from Kimara attended the Recycling Factory market, a sustainable lifestyle event. The event attracts loads of people and it makes you happy to see how many people that are thinking about how they consume today. Everything that is sold in the market can be bought with a good conscious! We built our booth on Friday night, it took hours as usually! I love "before" shots and remembered to snap one!
Do ask if you would like to know anything about what you see in the pictures! If you are curious to see more, please visit us on Facebook!
Thanks to everyone who came this weekend! And to you who were too far away to come - I hope you have enjoyed looking at the pictures!
We're back to everyday life, well nearly, school begins next week and I've had my first full-time work day after the holidays. It feels fantastic! I've started making tomte stuffies for Christmas :) Above is a little quilt I made for our kimara container shop. Here are some more pictures from our opening night a week ago!
Minna looking pretty with lovely balloons.
Cushions I made for the Peonies and weeds exhibition in June and some mobile bags...
My quilt and lace pillows from tuuni.
I will be in the shop on Thursday, if you're in Helsinki -- do come and see me! If you're not, thanks so much for visiting me here on the blog! Once I get my new computer I promisepromisepromise to blog more frequently!
I am very excited to show you the first pictures of the KimaraCRAFTS pop-up shop! Me and 4 other textile artists/crafters have joined forces and created a lovely little shop inside a shipping cointainer at Hernesaari, a harbour area in Helsinki with rough contrasts where concrete meets the beautiful open sea. These pictures were taken by Tuija of Tuuni. For opening hours and such, please visit our Facebook event page!
The book tour continues today after our little weekend break, which actually wasn't so much of a break for me, I'm totally knocked out after 3 days at the fair. It was so much fun, but you get so tired after being über-social for three days in a row. It was especially giving talking face to face about my book with people. Everyone was so happy and encouraging and even proud. I guess it doesn't happen every day that a Finn gets published in the US :) So Thanks, Kiitos and Tack to everyone who came to see me! See more pictures here.
Now I'd like to continue with my presentation of the hosts for my blog tour! Friday's stop was at Pikaland. Amy is a real talent at finding new talents in art and illustrations! If you want to start collecting art, Pikaland is the place to go to find the fresh, new names! If you're an artist yourself you might want to take part in the pika package project! I participated in the first project 2 years ago already!
This morning I stopped by at Amy aka Lucykate's blog to answer a couple of tricky questions. I can't really remember when Amy and I first 'met', but I think she was one of my first regular blog readers! Thanks for being there, Amy! Amy is a felt artist and creates the cutest little creatures, this new fox pillow with a relief appliqué is just amazing! She has some really sweet tutorials available on her blog, I might have to make the elf hat for little e for Christmas! Head over to Lucykate Crafts now to win your copy of my book!
I'll be back soon to introduce these lovely ladies (these are also the last dates for the book tour):
