What happens when you are stranded at home with a kid with chickenpox? When he has happily agreed to watch a Barbapapa DVD and you have gathered all your lime green fabric scraps to make a few bunny cushions? Your iron dies. Sigh.
Well, it was old, but it has been a good companion, my mother's auntie bought it for me for my first home. I guess it was about time for a new one anyway! Any good tips? I've sen irons with a narrower top and am thinking that might be good for ironing quilts and such. A long cord is also on the wish list, I want to be able to walk around with my iron :)
I had promised my daughter do something crafty with her yesterday so we decided to paint some tins and make pots for our small geranium babies. Aren't they pretty? Big E chose white geraniums for her pots, little e wanted red ones for his! Now we just have to keep them alive!
I hope your Monday is going more according to plans than mine!

I hope for you that the chickenpox is not very annoying for your child. Fortunately, my children, though they had a lots of spots they did not suffered much from it.
Good luck with your quest for a new iron (difficult task so to see ;)).

I have a love hate relationship with my iron. It isn't fancy (I bought it at the hardware store), but it does have a long cord and good weight. But my biggest pet peeve is that it has a hard time standing up. I was going to buy one with a fancy bit that makes sure the cord is out of the way when standing up, but Hubby convinced me to go with the heavier, bigger one. I shouldn't have listened to him. It's okay, I don't think the iron will last that long because it keeps falling off the damn ironing board! Sorry, but I can't remember the brand and that's probably a good thing.
I do remember seeing an iron review piece in a quilting mag and Rowenta irons came out on top. For what it's worth.

Thank you Krista! I dont dare to google it, I know I will find a lot of contradicting advice so I choose to listen to my blog readers instead :) I wont buy an expensive one because it will probably not last as long as my old one anyway, the quality is not what it used to be when it comes to home electronics.

So sorry about the pox, and of course the iron! There are lots of posts out there about iron buying. My idea is to get a cheap-ish new one, or a vintage very heavy one at a thrift shop!

I have killed more than my share of irons getting my slippers caught in the cord so that they fall down and smash to pieces. Hate when that happens.-) I have tried so many different kinds, but the one I love most is an old one that my husband had before we even met. I would like to know if you find a great one; buying irons (at least great ones) is so difficult.
