Here's the progress so far on my new hobby project! I'm liking the colours a lot, but I do like the squares with a white inner circle more. The yarn is Drops Alpaca from Garnstudio (pattern link here, the yarn I use is much thinner than in the pattern). It was a great relief to move my studio out of our home earlier this year, because our apartment was crammed with my stuff. I have noticed though that I quite liked to work from home. So in the future I wouldn't mind having a studio connected to our house again. I am the kind of person who needs to get busy with my hands all the time so now when my work is out of reach at night, I have suddenly been in an "I have nothing to do"-situation, which is very rare to me. This is why I've taken up crocheting :) This is and stays a hobby, I've promised myself not to make it a jobby too...
At work I've been doing a lot of this lately. Today I sent one village to Spain and another one to Portugal! Tomorrow I will start to working with a large quilt for a new project I'm very excited about (more about that later). It is not everyday that I have the time to make larger quilts so I am quite eager to get started with this quilt. As soon as I get my fabrics from customs... Remember this quilt I made last year? It is now hanging above our dinner table brightening up this darkish corner. The fox and the snow had to go, it's Spring!
The sun is shining from a blue sky today in Helsinki! I hope you are well where you are!
You have big talent, i have hope to see more form you

I love all the squares you've crocheted so far! I feel the same way - I like to keep my hands busy. Mostly I knit, but I'd love to do more crochet. I may have to try that pattern!

Your little crochet squares are awesome. I love how you are using those bright colors with some white to frame them. Striking. I almost want to try to make one, but I fear I would never have the motivation to put them all together into a final blanket. So glad to have found your blog. Best wishes.

oh yum! I love the colours of the crochet and I also prefer the ones with a white inner circle, lovely!

I really love your work and the colours you choose! I have made the same blanket that you are crocheting now, but didn't recognize it because of the difference in the colours. Shows how much choice of colour means :) If you want to see mine, it is on my blog.

I love that quilt, looks like it would be fun for a toddler! I work at home and sometimes I wish I had a studio so I could just walk out and shut the door but then, like you, I have to have something to do with my hands so I would have o keep 'hobby' sewing at home.

I love your crochet squares...the white definitely pops the colors out more and gives it a nice fresh look. I remember the little quilt too and thinking how cleaver that was of you to make.
The other quilt I've been thinking about is the progressive quilt you have shared with us. The little girl with her bike, etc. have you had an opportunity to finish that one yet? I just fell in love with that project. I admire your work so much.

Then again- it is completely wonderful to have a craft-free dining-table, I must say! The ideal would be to have a studio close by, not necessarily in the home, I think, so that you can sneak in for a little evening project... A place that could maybe be open as a shop from time to time... That I am dreaming of!

Your crochet squares are fabulous, Kajsa! I keep thinking about teaching myself to crochet. Your project has convinced me to give it a whirl.
I've been thinking about maybe getting a studio space outside of my home, but my concern is the same you mentioned. What the heck would I do with my time if all my crafty supplies weren't within reach?

It must have both advantages and disadvantages to work outside your home. Sometimes I love making stuff among my family but other days, I can't deal with the noise. And that is just when I do my hobby. :))
The crochet blanket you are making is really beautiful - and the mix of colours are so much you. It's funny how ways of making and mixing things can become so personal.
Have a great time with the new quilt. :))
