Last week I spent two mornings crafting with the kids at a Kindergarten. We made decoupage wreaths for Valentine's Day. I had no time to take pictures, but I can assure you they were all very pretty and personal! I pre-cut the hearts above for the wreaths. I so enjoy it whenever I get to craft with small children, they are so cute and very honest with their opinions :) And you make friends with them very fast: "Hello, what's your name?" "Kajsa" "Ok, Kajsa, can I sit in your lap?"
I have been Spring-cleaning and was thinking of selling this box of scraps, but since it is Valentine's Day I thought I'd give it away to someone in need instead! So if you are an aspiring quilter or appliqué artist please leave a comment (+ e-mail address) and tell me what you would do with a box of sykolicious scraps and you will be in the draw to win this collection of quilt fabrics from my scrap basket! I will draw a winner tomorrow morning Helsinki time!
Have a lovely day my friends!
Very sweet giveaway!
I sew a handbags and purses last weeks, your fabrics are beautiful for doing it.
Many thanks!!

Hi, I work with a community group/job creation called Nomvula's Knitters in South Africa. They knit and sew and now we are starting to teach quilting! I love your blog and your book and I know that your scraps will inspire the knitters! The scraps will go to a good home. Thanks for sharing your inspiration :) BIG FAN!!!

I don't have enough of my own scraps yet to make a real scrappy quilt - I love using little leftovers for zipper pouches and small applique projects too. But I'd love to try and make a fairly large (bed sized) scrappy quilt!

i want to try the raw edge applique. I read Scandinavian Stitches over the weekend and feel inspired! i love the birds.

Would love to win those scraps!
I recently bought a sewing machine. Last time I sewed was when I was a teenager … 30 years ago! Till now I only look at the brandnew machine adoringly and try to visualize what I will make. I think I am a little intimidated … Your scraps would certainly get me going!
I plan to make some (very easy and simple) patchwork notebooks first – after practising, that is!

I would sew a little quilt for taking on car trips for my little girl. She uses a really ugly blanket for the car at the moment and i want to make her something beautiful. i remember when i was her age i had a snuggly cozy blanket that i always cuddled in and fell asleep until we arrived at our destination. i think shes the most precious little girl in the world and really deserves a precious blanket :)

Hi Kajsa, I really struggle with buying fabric...too many to choose from, and it's all online! Wouldn't it be just lovely to received fabric chosen by someone else. I would make a flower appliqué cushion - sort of Scandinavian popsicle flowers. Maybe a bit of freehand machine embroidery, definately some hand embroidery and definately lots of happy colour! thank you keri [at] twolittleflowers [dot] com

I used to work with small people and miss it dreadfully, especially those little 'can I sit in your lap/stroke your hair/hold your hand?' moments. I am starting down the road of paperpieced hexies. These would kickstart things beautifully.

I think this is a fabulous idea. I love your fabrics. I am an avid quilter and wanted my next quilt to be a happy spring one. These would be perfect for it.
Thank you for your awesomeness and inspirations. I love your blog.

Your time with the children sounds like it was fun! I'm sure they loved it too. That's a delicious selection of scraps - especially as I can see it has some of your own design in too. If I were lucky enough to win I would use them to make some wallets and to add some new fabrics to my spiderweb quilt that I have been neglecting for too long. Knitting seems to have taken over my crafting energy lately but I hope to get back out to the sewing room soon. Lucy xx

That is the sweetest thing about doing things with young children. They're so happy you're there to have an activity with them, it makes a day so bright! I do love scraps, if I won I'd probably just lay them out on the table for awhile to touch and admire like any good fabriholic would do!
Posted by: SewLindaAnn | 14 February 2012 at 04:03 PM
I would love to use these fabrics for a linus quilt. Project linus is a charity that donates hand made quilts to babies and children who are very ill, i think these bright colours would cheer a child up no end and give them a warm quilty hug at the same time.
Best wishes
Debbie
