A reminder to those of you who watch Finnish TV: Blogistania (I've talked about it here and here) starts tonight at 19.30 with Outsa-pop. I know that most of you wont be able to see it, but if you're curious, you'll find some short teasers on youtube to watch. It all goes in Finnish though.
The programme about me and my blog, will be broadcasted 11th April. You can watch my 16 seconds of Youtube fame above! I am showing my Batboy card that I designed together with my son and telling you that in our family superheroes always wear wellies :) All in Finnish. My mother-tongue is actually Swedish, so it made the whole thing slighly more challenging. I am a bit nervous to hear how I sound when I speak Finnish, a language that I imagine that I am fluent in, except for when I'm very tired... Even if it sometimes can be frustrating to belong to a minority (6% of the Finnish population speak Swedish) I feel quite fortunate to have grewn up in an bilingual country. Today I use three languages every day and have even written a book in English! I think knowing languages not only helps you to communicate with people, but also broadens your understanding for different cultures. So all I can say is: encourage your kids to learn languages! Or take a language class yourself, your new knowledge can take you to surprising places!
Beautiful works:)

You can do it Claire! Encouragement is very important and so is courage! If you do not dare to speak, you will have no advantage of your new knowledge! xKajsa

Currently really struggling to learn French and Dutch. Think I am doing ok and then come across someone who tells me I am really bad. Encouragement is the key!!!

Wish we could get Blogastania program in the US. I am always impressed at the highly-developed linguistic abilities of so many Europeans. I follow your blog regularly and find so much inspiration and cheeriness here. Tack!

P.S. I believe your dream house is waiting for you at the right time and right place.

Hi Kajsa,
I want to see more of Blogistania even if it's in Finnish. My husband speaks English & Spanish but I have found it difficult to learn a second language. Maybe I'm too busy sewing!
Your video looks & sounds great.

Hi Kajsa,
I wish I could see Blogistania - it looks great. I bought your book in English, had to get my local bookshop here in the Adelaide Hills, Australia to order it in for me - but it was worth it - I have learnt so much and been inspired to create. Thank you.

I am most impressed at your language abilities! I can only speak English and a tiny smidgen of French - the british are notoriously bad at teaching languages (because everyone speaks English, of course!). Shame I can't see your TV debut, but congratulations all the same.

Totally agree. I'm trying to speak Danish as much as possible to my son (5 y/o), but he only speaks French Canadian ... Just this week he proudly counted to 10 in Danish, it was so cute! Though Danish is as minority as you can possibly get, I think it's important that he understands my mother tongue. English is of course a must later on - I can't believe how many here in Quebec who only speak French!
I would have loved to see the Blogastania even if it's in Finnish. To bad it's not possible to watch online.
