We have used a lot of grey paint during the holidays, after years of rented flats with clinic white walls we were ready for some colour, or well, not sure if everyone considers grey as a colour :) But I find it very soothing and it does go well with bright COLOUR too! We painted our kitchen doors pearl grey (Tikkurila 358X). The pretty reciepe card calendar was designed by Karin.
We really like open shelving so we took away the doors from the cabinets above the kitchen sink, the back of the cabinet was quite miscolored and was a nasty colour of yellow instead of white so T came up with the idea of covering it with gingham shelf paper, it looks kind of fun, I think! I am looking for some nice vintage wallpaper to replace it with, as for now we are happy with this!
The edges of the shelves were the same yellowy shade of white and when I saw this picture in the latest issue of Koti ja Keittiö magazine I got an idea...
I found some grey cardstock and got crafty :) There is something about scalloped edges that I like so much!
Not sure how long it will last, but I'll enjoy my Hansel and Gretel style shelf as long as it lasts :)
I've added a scallop edge to the upper shelf since the picture was taken and might put one on the bottom one too.
Excellent! (Photograph's are also great)

Hi! First time on your blog and had to comment. In our town, there is a store called Finlandia. I loved the mugs they had just gotten in. It's the same mug on your shelf that is in red with the tree! What a small world, connected by a mug! I am enjoying your book! Happy sewing!
