...stitching new cards for the Syko card collection. I am a bit late with the Fall collection this year, but I have decided not to beat myself up about it, I am the boss in this little company after all :)
The colours are a bit off here, but you'll get an idea of the greeting card to-be! There will also be a little something for everyone who loves to sew, or anyone who loves someone really!
And one for all the guys who are stepping into giant boots i.e. getting married!
I hope you like them! I hope to have them all available along with some new holiday cards in early October!
p.s. If you take the time to read this post you get a coupon code at the end. Scrolling down is also allowed :) d.s
I think it's been two years since I first got the idea of having cutting boards with my appliqué prints made and now they are finally here! There are a lot of products that I could have made with my prints, but most of them do not fulfill the ethical and ecological standards and the quality I want my products to have. I want to feel as proud of the products that I have had made by someone else as of a product I made with my own hands!
And I am very proud of introducing these cutting-boards that arrived on our doorstep yesterday! They are made of quality material, that is birch veneer, by a family company who specializes in making trays and such. The cutting board has a durable melamine coating that protects the printed picture, so you do not have to be afraid to use your sharpest knife on this one!
This peas on earth cutting board immediately moved into my own kitchen! I think there will have to be another blog post about the peas that inspire me so much right now, because today I feel like saying something more about quality products and craft business.
Most of you are familiar with my postcards, it is the Syko product that is most well-known and liked by so many people, which I am very grateful of. I have many resellers that sell my cards only. I love to have a product that anyone can afford! And it is pretty cool to have your own postcard collection, who would have thought? Still, I consider myself a crafter and take great pride in what I make and do. Which is why the cards are printed on recycled paper by a small business in Helsinki, were I know people personally. The cards are important, because I try to make a living on this business and I think the people who are able to make a living solely on handmade products in Finland today are not many. Above all I want to make and sell stuff that puts a little (or a big) smile upon your face in your everyday life! And that, I think, can be achieved by selling happy and cheerful things, but also when you know that what you sell has been ethically produced!
So the post about my new cutting boards became a little talk about my business policies, I hope you enjoyed it :) And since this is business, so I would like to offer you free shipping on all orders over 15€ from my Etsy shop until Friday night with the code BOARD4U.
Voit tehdä tilauksesi myös sähköpostilla! Det går bra att göra en beställning per mejl! order (at) syko.com
This never ending winter is really getting on my nerves! It's April and we still have heaps of snow! I want to work in my garden! To cheer ourselves and our customers up we decided to bring Spring to our studio shop. The Spring sun is shining, after all, even if this snow melting business seems to take for ever this year!
This is the shop as seen from my studio (which will have a major clean-up tomorrow). The clothing and the fabric painting is from Saaga, the bag from Tuuni.
I am loving the light that fills our rooms! I am also very fond of this particular shade of pink. Of course I had to have this dress with one of my favourite plants, Echinacea. I am trying to grow some for my garden. No sign of sprouts in my pots yet though, but the bag said it could take 21 days, so I am trying to be patient!
My new postcards for Spring and Summer are here! Looking at them makes me long for Summer even more, I guess patience isn't one of my virtues! The cards are available in my Etsy shop, of course!
I hope the sun is shining were you are!
I just got a box with fresh, new art prints from the printers! They are now in the shop! Note that if you live outside Europe (USA, Australia for example) there is no additonal shipping cost if you order more than one print.
If you want to be in the draw to win a print, let me know which one you would like to win! Remember to leave a valid e-mail address (won't be visible to everyone) so that I can get hold of you if you are the lucky winner!
Slow down, says the snail! You will have the time to send some love to the passers-by!
"Scandinavian retro" fish! Some are happy and some just a little grumpy :)
Peas on earth print for the gardener or the cook! Goes well with the fish print on the kitchen wall!
Frog prince portrait, inspired by my animal pouches. I hope to make some frog prince pouches for the shop next week too!
And on public demand, the batboy! I designed this in cooporation with my boy when he was four and had a very special pair of superhero rubber boots :)
If you would like to win a print, pick your favourite from my shop and you will be in the draw to win!
*edit* Comments are now closed and we have a winner! Laura was picked by the random number generator and will get a sanil print in the mail. Congratulations!
The new Christmas cards for 2012 arrived earlier this week and came out very nice, I think! This year we intend to spend an active Christmas here in Sykoland as you can see! This is the original of the skating girl card, I have put her on the wall above my sewing machine. My friends who live up North in Finland got the first snow today, I hope it will be a good winter for skiing this year, like it was last year! My boy loves to ski and we have a cross-country skiing center close to our new house, yay!
These postcards are, like all Syko cards, printed on recycled paper by a small company in Helsinki.
The cards are available in my Etsy shop!
In the next post I will show you a few of the 90(!) animal pouches I have been making during the last week, phew!
*edit* apparently it wasn't only snowing in the North, we got snow last night, already! Brrr!
I have finally reunited with Bernina Aurora after what seems like ages, but it was a very healthy break, I must say! I am very happy and quite busy to get the new cards for Fall and the holiday season ready. I can't wait to see them in print and show them to you!
I still have no Internet connection in my new studio, but as soon as I get it fixed I hope to become a more frequent blogger!! Talk to you soon!
I have re-opened my Etsy shop after the Summer break and listed this new print that I designed for the knitters and especially all the aspiring knitters out there :) A warm knitted scarf also seems to be an appropriate garment this Summer, brr!
Many people have asked if I will be offering any cards in the shop again some day, now after a very long time of procrastination I have managed to take some new pictures! It is challenging for an amateur photograhper to take a good picture of 31 postcards, I must say. The best light I could find today was in this corner of the balcony, so I had to do some rearranging... You see? I really need more space!
The result, well it isn't perfect, but still a picture of all cards I have in stock right now!
Don't you just love the feeling when you finish a project that you have being avoiding for far too long? I do! And if you would like some Syko cards for yourself, you know where to find them!
